Publication: 1st Anniversary of Macau Handover

The collection of articles in this special issue of Academic Research was put together by MSLF and the Guangzhou Academy of Social Sciences. MSLF was responsible for collecting and editing the non-Chinese authors' papers, and the Academy edited the Chinese authors' articles. Some of the papers were translated into Chinese by the Academy for this special commemorative edition celebrating the 1st Anniversary of Macau's handover to China. The articles cover a wide variety of topics about Macau including early encounters of the Portuguese in China; Macau and the Canton trade from 1700 to 1840; typhoons in Macau during the Qing; Macau and the Opium Wars; as well as several articles on 20th century politics and economic development. Two articles are in English, while the rest are in Chinese.
